About David Cheong

Hi and welcome to Davidclicks.net.

Thanks for dropping by this blog where I pour out my visions, sights, experience and especially my work here. Well, you could call it my very own personal dumpsite lol!

Photography is a love where it started off 3 years back and pretty basic in fact where I shot almost anything and everything. Now I'm a full fledged weddings and portrait photographer only, but sometimes, I also indulge in the occasional events photography as well to widen my views and perspective. To view more of my works, do visit RPStudios Photography. For inquiries or that you just want to share some love, why not drop me an email here.

I would love to hear from you!

Travelogue – Destination Kota Kinabalu 2

    Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Hurray! Time for updates on the second day hehe…

At first, even though we did plan to go to the foothill of Mt. Kinabalu, we eventually lazed around in the morning and only got around to leaving the house at around 11 something for some brunch. Where I was taken, I had no idea but I was in for a really good meal that I’m missing so much right now!

I had no idea even Sabah had Mee Kolok haha and apparently, this one is pretty famous in KK. The texture of the mee was just perfect and springy all over, coupled with some ‘Char Siew and Siew Yoke’ (and extras from Kelvin since he doesn’t like ‘Siew Yoke’), it was nom nom heaven in the east side of Malaysia.

Also to top it off, it was a norm in KK to have beer for breakfast in which my initial reaction was WTF??

Ok fine, it did not contain any beer in it. In fact, the coffeeshop actually reuses the beer bottles to store coffee in the fridge which was pure genius if I might say so because as far as I’m concerned, I love my coffee cold and chilled to perfection. Just plain ice coffee doesn’t cut it out for me anymore wtf. Well, at least it answered my question of why the beer bottles in the fridge were all opened when I first stepped into the coffeeshop haha!

On the way back to the car, we noticed a shop that openly has pool tables in it with old people playing and watching like it was some world pool championship tournament but from what I can guess, its looks more like some weekend activity for the people here. Kind of like the karaoke sessions the Malaccans have every weekend at night at Jonker Street. Very cool and interesting hehe.

A pretty chilling day ahead with a walk in a couple of malls just to see how life is like there.

In to Warisan Square Shopping Mall we go and it was a cool concept, blending in with the western culture of having open air shopping malls with the eastern blend of decorations in it. Just opposite of it was the sea, so some fresh sea air left us feeling really peaceful and serene……… not! It really wasn’t much of a difference compared to KL where there were loads of cars and I’ve no idea why, somehow the cars there rolls out even more smoke than the cars in KL, or was it just me hmmmmm…

Staying indoors was the best decision we made that day, and not only that, I discovered that the toilets are extremely cute where it is a combination of both the squatting and sitting toilet. Unfortunately, I can has no piktah cause I had a business to attend to in the loo wtf!

However, a visit to the closest beach not too far from where we stayed and also the airport. Not to mention, it  was actually more uplifting than the city. Remind me again why we chose to go to the city hahaha! The sky had a perfect blend of colors and the sea was calm yet rough in its own way, and I feel like I’m getting a bit too weird with my words here lol!

Well, photos does me justice eh hehe!

People were there enjoying the beach, and you definitely can smell the salt there. Heck, or even taste it! Just open your mouth wide open, facing the sea direction and I’m sure salt will form in your mouth and fyi, I totally did not do that! We took quite some time there while setting up our tripods to try and take the sunset but since it was pretty cloudy, therefore no sunset for us boo.

But we were kind of rewarded with the perfect sky to end the night of our second day.

I just somehow had to put this in here.

Don’t ask me what it is, where it is or whatever the reason this is for but it seems that the owner of this house was a bit off and that he made this just for the fun of it. It’s not even some prayer thing lol, in fact I almost thought that it was some kind of grave haha! For the first time, I’m seeing some really cool artwork replacing the usual plants and greenery that decorates a person’s house front.

I’m thinking of doing the same for my house, shall I? LOL!

Travelogue – Destination Kota Kinabalu 1

    Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Weeeeeee it’s time to update the blog again and this time, I’ll stick to my resolution of updating more frequently roar!

    Wish me luck! Haha!!

Anyways, the gang and I went over to Kota Kinabalu during the long weekend earlier this week where we left on Friday, and came back on Monday. Funnily enough, when we planned this whole trip earlier this year, we didn’t know that Monday was a public holiday and so for us, the working people, was having a ‘Hurray, don’t have to take leave’ moment lol.

And we only found out just 2 days before the trip, darn sad right haha!

Being the stingy people we are, we go through great lengths to minimize our spending, even if it takes about 2 hours just to get to our destination. Our plan, was to take the lrt from Wangsa Maju to KL Sentral, then take the ERL over to Putrajaya, stop there, exit, and buy another ticket to KLIA and hop back on to the next train which in turn, actually saved us about RM20 which was a whole lotta money there.

Showing off how man he is by carrying all the luggage

And it took a whole 2 hours to do so, but we have lots of time haha!

The journey was filled with catching up, some knowledge sharing, and funnily enough some wonderings on whether if the ERL train connector thingy actually touches the electric cable when it moves and why doesn’t it create any spark if it does. Yup, the question was only answered when we reached KK lol!

This is how we do it!

Upon arriving and checking in, we explored the airport just for the fun of it and when we got bored, we explored the flight boarding area just cause we’re cool that way haha. And also cause we were having fun taking photos of each other while on the moving platform hehe.

The journey on the plane wasn’t really that boring compared to when I went to KK just a few years back because this time, I had my trusty laptop and camera with me. And also it was also RPStudios Photography Annual Meeting Year 1 on board a flight which made it even cooler haha! Loads to discuss, finalise and updates to go through. Also promotions, advertisments and more galore and keep checking back here or the RPStudios Photography blog for updates ok!

You could also add myself and RPStudios Photography on twitter to get even more super updated news lol!

Ok, enough of whoring myself haha!

During this journey, I just found out that when flights are longer than 2 hours, the attendants will serve us meals which made our journey even more worth it than it already has. Imagine a flight to and from KK with MAS is only worth RM138 per person. Dirt cheap right lol!

When we arrived, our friend who is currently working there offered to bum us in his house for the entire trip, which made it even more so cool haha and when we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the moon. Seriously look at the ring formed around the moon, superbly awesome wei and being photographers, we dump our bags on the road, took out our tripods and start snapping away haha!

    Ok, first day is done!

Next up, Travelogue – Destination Kota Kinabalu 2. Look forward to one of the most chilling and random trips ever hehe!

    Sawadi Krap!

    Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

and yes I know that it will take me a while to blog about the entire trip so why not just a summary will do haha!

Just imagine those words ‘Bangkok‘ as ‘Phuket’!

It sometimes disgusts me to no end that I am blogging lesser and lesser these days. It’s so disgusting that I could even take a picture of an elephant poo and edit it for the longest wee hours so that it’ll look awesomely pooshed and weeeed and that does not even make sense! And fyi I certainly did not do that if you were wondering but I do have a picture of an elephant poo haha!

A green one to be exact lol!

So anyways, a 3 day 2 night stay in Phuket all summarized in one post.

Took a flight to Phuket via Air Asia having to get up at 3.30am just to be on time for the 6.50am flight that nearly took a life out of me gahhh. Arrived in Phuket at 8.30am KL time in which it got kind of confusing for us because KL is actually 1 hour ahead of Phuket so in other words, you could say that the flight was in total of only half an hour hahahaha! Of course I kid, but yeah confusion set in just nicely, but got used to it after a while and headed straight to one of the most awesome hotel that I have ever stayed in.

Indigo Pearl Hotel is its name, and posh is its game. Having a freaking huge area which includes a private beach, one could take about an hour or two just to explore the entire place and all in all, there were 3 public pools and some of the rooms have their own private mini pool but unluckily, ours do not. The room was huge, a combination of 2 actually since it was a suite and yeah, quite an open bathroom where it only has curtains to cover and best of all, the shower was a see through and to solve our problems of having to bath, yes the curtains was our savior!

Imagine having to announce each time you wanna go into the bathroom, especially if you were to do your business haha!

This is not even half of our room, that was how big our room was lol!

But it was pretty fun and the room was extremely spacious. Not only that, they even specially cater weddings whereby they have just the spot for people to get married at and by just having a look around the place, I knew that someday I would love to photograph a wedding here, especially pre-wedding shoots! The geek in me compells me to and I can’t help it lol! We rested the rest of the day, took a swim in the awesome Infinity Pool, and came night time, we explored Patong Beach which was roughly around 40 minutes by cab from the hotel.

Yup, they have it all here. Food, clubs, bars, Thai massage, white people, strippers, lady boys (that’s what they call em), McD pork burgers and Starbucks (which we refer to as civilization lol). We were there that night and the next for the food, experience and best of all, the Thai massages which I regretted going for only one night and it was the last night of our trip! I’m missing it already argh and it was so cheap as well compared to KL.

On the second day, we went for a Safari Trip which we got to sit on an elephant, explored the jungles of Phuket, ate some local Thai food, watched some lady rubber tapped, witnessed another lady crack open a coconut with a spearhead and made some coconut oil, watched some people ride a water buffalo (not Nigel) cart, and entertained by a deranged monkey set on getting at you and yanking your head off!

I was kidding about the last part but the monkey was entertaining at the very least lol!

Then it was beach time in the evening where we witnessed an amazing sunset, took some awesome portraits of ourselfs with some very cliched ones but still nice hehe! And the above, well its just a preview lah, will show the rest of it soon I guess haha! The next day was the worst of all 3 days that we were there because it was time to go back and yes, I dreaded going back home, back to kl, back to work…

I wished that I was still there sigh but budget does not permit sigh…
