Hi and welcome to Davidclicks.net.

Thanks for dropping by this blog where I pour out my visions, sights, experience and especially my work here. Well, you could call it my very own personal dumpsite lol!

Photography is a love where it started off 3 years back and pretty basic in fact where I shot almost anything and everything. Now I'm a full fledged weddings and portrait photographer only, but sometimes, I also indulge in the occasional events photography as well to widen my views and perspective. {Om Nom Nom} Pink Sage

    Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Yes as according to the title, it will make you hungry lol!

Anyways, I’ve always been a food person, hence my overweight tummy size (although am trying ‘very very’ hard to lose it at gym). Good food is easy to find, but really good ones are tough. Here in KL where there is food just about anywhere. If you’re local, you know of the ones so secluded in the city, one would feel so scared just by in the said area. And of course there are those whom people know of , that are lying in plain sight. Well, when I first heard of this place, which was through an article somewhere I thought wow sounds interesting. And then I gave it a try, but finding it wasn’t exactly easy since the place where it is located at is so new and all.

Given that I actually discovered the area it was at by accident without having to go through Google Map if you know what I mean, pure joy and happiness follows through =p. The Pink Sage Diner & Pantry, located at Solaris Dutamas although does not exactly reflect its name in terms of color, gives off a very chilling ambiance. Myself and Jen first tried it out for dinner a couple of weeks back loved it so much that we instantly wanted to try the breakfast dishes also and although its called breakfast, they serve it up till 6pm.

Inside it sits a very very very cool poster, right behind a their DJ deck which I’m sorry although it is cool, its such a shame that I forgot what it said. To the owners of The Pink Sage Diner, if you are reading this, I really really REALLY wanna know where you bought it =D. Also while we were there, they were showing a live telecast on their projector the F1 race, which gives it a plus point being inside and all. I always approve places that has these combination’s, air con, food, and projector/tv =p

Yes, many different shots of the menu cause I was so intrigued by it that it is made out of paper which I’m guessing is recycled. No idea why but really different and very cool although it is kind of a pity when it gets dirty.

Serving water differently, it comes in its very own water container for all whom order it. Makes me want to steal it away the moment I saw it but its not easy task since its so big. Reminder to self, bring a big bag the next time =p. Jen ordered the Haagan Dazs Chocolate Ice Cream Milkshake (RM13.50). Very smooth and chocolaty, anything from an ice cream goes really well with me, I ain’t picky.

Take a break with a picture of her enjoying every minute of it!

A breakfast dish for Jen with the Greasy Breakfast (RM15.50) that has fried eggs with corned beef, hash browns, streaky beef brisket and fried tomatoes in em. Hash browns and fried eggs FTW! Since its called Greasy Breakfast, you can expect some really oily but a very satisfying meal. Writing this at 12am isn’t helping much either since looking at it makes me even more hungry lol.

A mixed up in my order had me instead trying the Angus Beef burger in which I did not regret at all. The meat was juicy and tender, tasted so beefy and yes it was THE best burger I ever had. But it did come with a hefty price tag. One of the most expensive burgers they have, it is still a must try at least just once. You don’t know what you’re missing!

Very evenly cooked, and a big compliments to the chef that cooked it. Am definitely getting it again the next time I’m there, although the other dishes are very tempting as well.

All dishes comes in pretty decent servings which for a big eater like me is more than enough.

Here’s the address in case you were wondering and do check out the website as well. A perfect place to chill with friends and hold parties/small events, definitely a good place to be at. Alternatively, you could have a read at Jen’s review here. Definitely a much better review than mine haha.

Travelogue – Destination Kota Kinabalu 2

    Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Hurray! Time for updates on the second day hehe…

At first, even though we did plan to go to the foothill of Mt. Kinabalu, we eventually lazed around in the morning and only got around to leaving the house at around 11 something for some brunch. Where I was taken, I had no idea but I was in for a really good meal that I’m missing so much right now!

I had no idea even Sabah had Mee Kolok haha and apparently, this one is pretty famous in KK. The texture of the mee was just perfect and springy all over, coupled with some ‘Char Siew and Siew Yoke’ (and extras from Kelvin since he doesn’t like ‘Siew Yoke’), it was nom nom heaven in the east side of Malaysia.

Also to top it off, it was a norm in KK to have beer for breakfast in which my initial reaction was WTF??

Ok fine, it did not contain any beer in it. In fact, the coffeeshop actually reuses the beer bottles to store coffee in the fridge which was pure genius if I might say so because as far as I’m concerned, I love my coffee cold and chilled to perfection. Just plain ice coffee doesn’t cut it out for me anymore wtf. Well, at least it answered my question of why the beer bottles in the fridge were all opened when I first stepped into the coffeeshop haha!

On the way back to the car, we noticed a shop that openly has pool tables in it with old people playing and watching like it was some world pool championship tournament but from what I can guess, its looks more like some weekend activity for the people here. Kind of like the karaoke sessions the Malaccans have every weekend at night at Jonker Street. Very cool and interesting hehe.

A pretty chilling day ahead with a walk in a couple of malls just to see how life is like there.

In to Warisan Square Shopping Mall we go and it was a cool concept, blending in with the western culture of having open air shopping malls with the eastern blend of decorations in it. Just opposite of it was the sea, so some fresh sea air left us feeling really peaceful and serene……… not! It really wasn’t much of a difference compared to KL where there were loads of cars and I’ve no idea why, somehow the cars there rolls out even more smoke than the cars in KL, or was it just me hmmmmm…

Staying indoors was the best decision we made that day, and not only that, I discovered that the toilets are extremely cute where it is a combination of both the squatting and sitting toilet. Unfortunately, I can has no piktah cause I had a business to attend to in the loo wtf!

However, a visit to the closest beach not too far from where we stayed and also the airport. Not to mention, it  was actually more uplifting than the city. Remind me again why we chose to go to the city hahaha! The sky had a perfect blend of colors and the sea was calm yet rough in its own way, and I feel like I’m getting a bit too weird with my words here lol!

Well, photos does me justice eh hehe!

People were there enjoying the beach, and you definitely can smell the salt there. Heck, or even taste it! Just open your mouth wide open, facing the sea direction and I’m sure salt will form in your mouth and fyi, I totally did not do that! We took quite some time there while setting up our tripods to try and take the sunset but since it was pretty cloudy, therefore no sunset for us boo.

But we were kind of rewarded with the perfect sky to end the night of our second day.

I just somehow had to put this in here.

Don’t ask me what it is, where it is or whatever the reason this is for but it seems that the owner of this house was a bit off and that he made this just for the fun of it. It’s not even some prayer thing lol, in fact I almost thought that it was some kind of grave haha! For the first time, I’m seeing some really cool artwork replacing the usual plants and greenery that decorates a person’s house front.

I’m thinking of doing the same for my house, shall I? LOL!

Sausages, meat, and everything in between

    Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

tastes oh so good, delightful and oh so yummy!

Being a hard-on sausage lover (not the dirty kind) as well as all things meat, I just simply can’t resist not wanting to try things new, interesting and creative especially when it comes to authenticity. And this is where this particular restaurant comes into mind. When I first tried it in their branch in 1 Utama, it left me wanting more and I have been craving for it ever since.

    What is it?

Well what else other than a great introduction to good old Jarrod & Rawlins for their exquisite taste in one of the finest meat dishes in town, well in PJ and KL that is haha! I first noticed them when I was working in Desa Sri Hartamas with their really cute wine barrel-like tables that catches your attention and their finest assorted collection of wine that amazed me, when I don’t even recognise most of them, well not like I’m a winery expert or anything haha!

Mr. Kumar was kind enough to guide us through our exquisite experience where he even introduced some of the more famous dishes that Jarrod & Rawlins has and with them emphasizing on a Deli theme for the restaurant, you can be guaranteed that the ingredients are mostly prepared themselves meaning self produced.

I mean they even sell their frozen pies right of the stores in Cold Storage, that is like wow!

    Nicoise Salad

Dinner started off with some starters, which were the Nicoise Salad and Caeser Salad.

Personally I prefered the Nicoise Salad with its fresh smoked tuna mixed in with some eggs and vegetables and obviously, I finished the eggs but also offered some to the others lah but one can’t resist the tuna when I have always disliked fish, this one somehow made me kept wanting more like there was some secret behind it, but unfortunately, we would never know…

    Ceaser Salad

The Ceaser Salad was like any other ceaser salad that is offered by many, so it wasn’t really to my liking. Ok let’s be frank, I was never a ceaser salad fan, never really know why but I think it was because most of it is coated with vinegar and I kind of dislike vinegar and yes, even when having sharksfin soup I have it plain kthxbai!

    Platter of Sausages

Oh before that, during our orders we were first introduced to the deli counter whereby we get to choose what type of meat we want and especially the oh-so-yummy sausages that I have always craved for, especially the Pork & Herbs sausage that was to die for. We ordered some Streaky Bacon, Lamb & Cranberry Sausage, Pork & Herbs Sausage, Pork Dynamite Chilli Sausage, Pig in a Blanket Sausage (haha!), and the Beef Range Sausage.

One of the chefs spicing it up!

Most of them favoured the Lamb & Cranberry sausage but I still love my Pork & Herbs sausage but its just a matter of personal peference. I find the Pork Dynamite chilli sausage a tad bit too spicy on my side and the Beef Range sausage just nice as I love beef!

Portobello Mushroom with Cheese and Bacon

Next was my all-time favorite combo, the Portobello Mushroom with Cheese and Bacon yum!

How could anyone not love this, its like heaven with a bix of naughtiness of hell mixed in and it tingles your taste buds with just a tiny weensy bite and yet, it feels so good and orgasmic it is to die for that I have to want some more and I think that this is getting out of hand and looking at that picture reminds me of it and it makes me feel like I want some more of those, especially with the melted cheese right on top of the mushroom that tastes just right and I guess I better stop now before I skip work and just go there to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with just the portobello mushroom with cheese and bacon.

Does that describe how much I love it? lol!

    Anti-Pasta Platter

The Anti-Pasta Platter was next which consists of Pepper Dew and Sun Dried Tomatoes but sorry to say, I prefer Pasta, not Anti-Pasta as I ain’t anti pasta at all, nah uh, nope, no sir, negative, tidak, ile. But although not much of a fan, I still tried it even a teensy weensy bite but I didn’t know how to describe it so, head on down to Nigel’s description to find out lol! Oh you are given a choice of selections to choose from as well for the Anti-Pasta platter

    Steak & Kidney Pie

Ahh the Steak & Kidney Pie, love the taste of steak in the beginning but the lingering aftertaste of kidneys isn’t really my type because I too am not a really bit fan of kidneys as the aftertaste is a tad too strong for me, makes you feel overwhelmed for some time but maybe that’s just me.

    Lamb Shank

The Lamb Shank, one of the favorites that night where it was coated in real thick gravy and I must say, it was pretty good with the meat being all tender and the gravy puts on just the right taste that you will simply love, even when you’re not a lamb fan! Well I am haha and this Lamb Shank renewed my faith in it, literally!

    Beef Tenderloin

My favorite for the night, the Beef Tenderloin which I gobbled down leaving no traces of it. Haha just kidding but I must say, this is done perfectly and the meat was simply so tender, it could be chewed just nicely without having one to chew many times just to eat a single piece of meat and I simply love the lingering juice the meat still contains even after being cooked.

My mouth is watering while I was typing that haha!

    Pork Knuckle

The king of the table that night, the Pork Knuckle which Jen is such a big fan of was extremely crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and this is definitely the best that I have tasted so far! Yup you read it right ,this by far sits on top in my search for the perfect Pork Knuckle dish hehe.

    Cheese Platter

Dessert was introduced to us but not the usual kind and rather, a really different kind. How about cheese for dessert, nice much? The Cheese Platter was recommended by the chef where it contained 4 types of cheeses which were Brie, Picon Blue, Camembert and the Machengo-Camembert.

Among other things that were on the platter were the Branston Pickle, Prunes and Apricots and together with the platter, a range of crackers was served to add some delight to your dessert. You can spread if over the crackers, eat the crackers and cheese separately or even just the cheese or crackers only, whatever that makes you happier like me hehe!

    Weihenstephaner Beer

Throughout the night, my companion was with me brisking through various types of food, a companion that I have wanted to taste ever since I laid eyes on it on the TV, and yes her name was Weihenstephaner and if you’re not careful, some chick might have that name as well and hopefully she’s as hot as the bottle haha! It is lighter than the usual beers that you get around here but just nice. Aaron had the Hoegarden but it felt a bit too light and seemed watered down for my taste.

We left the place feeling full, satisfied but still wanting for more and thankfully, there are many other branches available all around town:
